Benanti Wines
Benanti wines are inscribed with character, authenticity and elegance, virtues that make them recognizable and memorable, avoiding ephemeral novelties and fashions of the moment.
Benanti’s wine making history is synonymous with Etna wine making history. In fact, the hard work and excellent wines produced at this historic winery are what catapulted this unknown part of Sicily to the enological forefront. Benanti’s wines are among the best made on the volcano today.
In the late 1800s Giuseppe Benanti, grandfather of DR. Giuseppe Benanti, started wine production in one of his father’s old farms on the slopes of Etna, in Viagrande (Catania). In 1988, Giuseppe Benanti revived the family’s old passion, with an extensive and selective study of the Etnean soils dedicated to viticulture. He also studied and researched specific native vine clones and new oenological techniques to reproduce ancient aromas using the most modern winemaking practices, a perfect union of history and reality. From this five-year study, unique wines were produced to bring back old flavors and keep them intact over time. Today the company is positioned in the market with high quality products and the demand for its wines is increasing significantly. This is mainly due to the quality of its wines, known throughout Italy and abroad, and certified by the many prizes awarded every year by the most important national and international competitions.
