Wente Vineyards
Wente Vineyards is a winery in Livermore, California that is “the oldest continuously operating, family-owned winery in the United States”. Wente Estate is registered as a California Historic Landmark. The winery was founded by Carl Wente in 1883 on 47 acres of land. After, he received wine training while working for Charles Krug of Napa Valley, Wente purchased some vineyards and land of exceptional soil. In 1935 his sons, Ernest and Herman, introduced California’s first Sauvignon Blanc wine label. The Wente family’s efforts, including pioneering mechanical harvesting at night, helped establish of Livermore Valley as one of the premier wine growing regions of California.
