Nigl
For two decades, father Joseph and his son Martin Nigl dared to invest their resources exclusively in wine production. Therefore, it is admirable how quickly they managed to break into the top Austrian wine producers. The vineyards are partly on terraces on the hill of Kremstal, on the fringes of Bohemia and in a river valley, where for this large changes in temperature are caused between day and night, including fogs, during the ripening period. This is which makes the wines more spicy, fruity and elegant. However, his vineyards estate have spread to different locations and are even within borders of the city of Krems. The drier climate of Krems, the predominantly yellow calcareous and silty soil and other factors are what distinguish Krems wines from Seftenberg wines. Considering these differences it is no surprise that the wines of the Nigl family are vinified on a single vineyard and varietal basis, yielding majestic Gruner Veltliner & Riesling.
