Mitravelas Estate
Wine production has always been sacred for the Mitravela family. From great-grandmother Mitravelena back in 1828 who took care of the first vines in Nemea until today, Konstantinos Mitravelas 5th generation today continues the tradition and vision of his ancestors. This is the oldest family of winegrowers in Nemea (19th century) and this is officially proven, as in the property of the family, and specifically of the great-grandmother Mitravelena, there are registered plots of vineyards in the then Agios Georgios, today’s Nemea. Records of the National Estates of the Kapodistria administration dated October 10, 1828 testify that the family already owned vines during this period. In the first decade of the 20th century, Mitravela’s grandfather founded the Mitravela winery, near the city center, which was a landmark for the Nemea area. The winery was founded in 1913 and later in the 1950s Andreas Mitravelas with his brothers Spyros and Nikos took over the business and gradually increased the annual production. Hopefully by the end of the 20th century, the family owns around 100 acres of privately owned vineyard in various areas in the Nemea area. As the fifth generation of winegrowers, we continue our family’s long history of respecting the Nemea region. Belief in the potential of Agiorgitikos and PDO Nemea wines is the most important principle and inspiration of our winery.
