Dab
1868 is a milestone in German brewing history: The coal and steel boom is in full swing in Dortmund. A new era has started. Businessmen Laurenz Fischer and Heinrich and Friedrich Mauritz establish a highly advanced steam brewery, Bier-Brauerei Herberz & Cie., together with master brewer Heinrich Herberz. The growing popularity of DAB beer was no accident but the logical consequence of its high quality, the result of the best possible ingredients and advanced production processes.
The DAB we’re drinking today has been a process over 150 years in the making. Ever since the brewery was established in 1868, it has always been – and forever will be – about the beer. Not only did DAB invent the Dortmunder Export beer style, they laid the foundation for what modern beers taste like. Their passion for beer is reflected in every minute they spend at the brewery, every hop harvest that’s carefully examined, and every drop of beer brewed. The Dortmunder Export is how everything started, but there’s more to DAB than just one beer.
