Anchor Brewing
Anchor Brewing was founded by the German Gottlieb Brekle, however in 1896 it was purchased by Ernst F. Baruth and his son in law. In 1906 the brewery was burnt in the wild fires that followed the great earthquake of San Fransisco. The constant pressure from bigger breweries led to bankruptcy in 1965 when it was purchased by the pioneer of microbrewery in the U.S.A. He created classic yet innovative, truly handmade beers made with love. The unique Anchor beers – including Anchor Steam® – are all produced in one of the most traditional and beautiful breweries in the world. Every single brew is made by hand in cooper tanks in this “museum” brewery.
